I'm a schedule compiler as well, and I find that day trips, unless on reasonably frequent services, can be very difficult to conclude (try the remaining Dorset X.. network . . . very low frequency and connections that are either 5 minutes or 65 minutes, and I don't trust 5 minute connections any more when the next bus is 2 hours later!).
The lack of printed timetables (enabling a quick re-plan en-route) doesn't help anyway, but that's for another blogger to talk about!!greenline727https://www.blogger.com/profile/03033268278026535109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2425346921966365551.post-15290692332219742022018-05-19T10:52:00.485+01:002018-05-19T10:52:00.485+01:00That would be because it's the 754 (Colchester...That would be because it's the 754 (Colchester - Sudbury) that is having its frequency doubled, not the 753 (Sudbury - Bury). The change in frequency is only between school times, and definitely amounts to more than one extra journey! One 754 an hour will run through to Bury as a 753 (and vice versa), as happens now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2425346921966365551.post-14459103118488441022018-05-15T08:54:19.656+01:002018-05-15T08:54:19.656+01:00Anyone who says that planning a bus trip, as an in...Anyone who says that planning a bus trip, as an industry professional or otherwise, is either kidding themselves or not very adventurous. All such day trips are fraught with compromises and limitation which can make reaching specific points or doing things impossible and those limitations will be different for each person and vary over time (how early do I want to start? how late do I want to stay out? what else have I got on? how do I feel? how long do I want to hang around in places? what else do I want to do?). I am a bus industry professional (a scheduler as it happens, so I should be the most capable) and I regularly come up against trips that seem simple on paper at the concept stage but the moment you try and plan it then the connections don't work or you just run out of time and end up stuck at a point as you miss the last bus.dwarfer1979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2425346921966365551.post-27076672018412249002018-05-14T17:23:28.837+01:002018-05-14T17:23:28.837+01:00Which main route? Already coach operators are looking at outer London Termini instead of venturing into tye mainly gridlocked centre.

Megabus are already doing it between Norwich and Stratford, and others are expected to follow suit. Expect places like the O2, Wembley and other locations with plenty of space for coaches and good Underground links into Central London. However for this to work the coach ticket needs to include the transfer into Central London or the main lure of coach travel - ie the cheapness will be negated.Steve Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06852377706742868978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2425346921966365551.post-1573933615203094962018-05-09T13:50:01.908+01:002018-05-09T13:50:01.908+01:00Victoria station set for its biggest-ever overhaul...Victoria station set for its biggest-ever overhaul

It seems to be more about building more office space.
