47805 Debut

Stopped off at Lowestoft today to catch 47805 make its debut on the "short set". There have been a few choppings and changes over the last week, with 47810/813 and 853 all seeing action. However today it was 47818 "Emily" at the country end with 47805 at the Norwich end. And quite a show she put on too - great soundtrack and some good smoke (sorry Greens)!

47805 at Lowestoft
I'll never tire of this sight - 47805 with the 1057 to Norwich. 156422 in background replacing the usual 170 on the 1107 to Ipswich
Steaming away! 47805 puts on a show as she leaves Lowestoft
47818 "Emily" brings up the rear - the semaphore signals just add to it!

  4. Much as I love the 47's they do seem a little unreliable these days - is it all the starting and stopping? Maybe they should be kept on the Lowestoft "fasts" so they can just trundle along without all the stopping.

  5. So how come all those years of loco services in this area did we not hear of this many failures? Mind you if you look at all the newer metal that is stored why keep older going on a shoestring or would not a class 60 be just the same because they were designed as you say for long haul

  7. As far as I know the two mark II's and DBSO are at Crown Point and the 37's are just a formality, but staff training is holding everything up. I don't really care - I'm just enjoying our little part of the world being so unique. The 47's were back out this afternoon with the same locos as yesterday so can't have been anything major.
