Teatime Tit-Bit, Urban Dart

The excellent Yarmouth Bus Page put a post up last weekend featuring First vehicles around the country that wear the Excel Urban livery - worth checking out. One picture really caught my eye and thanks to the mutual arrangement I have with YBP I can bring it to you now. It's fair to say I'm not a fan of Darts but my word the livery really suits them. The pic is by Bristol LH whose Flickr page you can access here. I am also shamelessly going to use the photo description Bristol LH has as some of the spelling would take me all day to get right!

Very smart indeed           pic and description by Bristol LH
Cymru Clipper Dart

Having applied the three-tone blue and gold 'interurban' livery to Optare Versas, Volvo B7RLEs and Wrightbus Streetlites, it is now the turn of the batch of 53-plate Dennis Darts based at First Cymru's Pontardawe depot to receive the colours and "Cymru Clipper" brandname. These are employed on Services 120 & 125 (Swansea-Pontardawe-Ystalyfera-Ystardgynlais) and 132 (Pontardawe-Neath).

42692 is the second to be repainted and unlike 42688, carries full vinyls.

This August 2014 shot of her was taken at the Jubilee Interchange at Pontardawe, which despite being just a long lay-by with a couple of bus shelters on the inner-by-pass, acts as the focal point for all services operated by First Cymru, South Wales Transport and DANSA and enables connections in all four main directions from the town.

  1. It's been a long time since I was at school, but perhaps someone should tell First that "Urban" means town or city, i.e. an urban community.

These vehicles, including the X1 E400s are used on INTER-Urban routes, i.e. between towns and cities.

    Or am I being pedantic?

    1. You're going to love this Mick - it appears that the half and half livery, such as that worn by 69426/8 in Ipswich is known as the "inter-urban" livery. I will now take cover as you guys are allowed guns out there!!!!

  2. First's standard livery (as worn by 37562 and the old X1 buses) is called 'Olympia' or 'corporate'.
The X1 livery is 'Interurban' and the livery which Ipswich, Norwich and the Potteries are starting to use is called 'Urban - red' or 'Urban - grey' (change colour where needed).

So 69428 is wearing 'Urban - interurban'. Brilliant.
