Expansion For Lynx?

Noted in today's registrations on the VOSA website is a new route for Kings Lynn based Lynx. The 36 will run in two sections, from Hunstanton to Wells-Next-The-Sea via Brancaster and Burnham Market, and from Wells to Sheringham via Blakeney and Weybourne. The service is daily but as yet frequencies are unknown. One can only assume this is to provide competition to Stagecoach's Coasthopper Service. There are also changes to Lynx's established 35 service between Kings Lynn and Hunstanton, with timetable, route and stopping places all being altered. All these changes come into operation on 12th October. Coincidentally (or not) Coasthopper's Winter timetable comes into effect the same day.

Also registered today were timetable changes to Anglian's 7/61 group of services, to start from 11th October. I have a feeling there will be more activity from Anglian in the coming days.

While everyone else is cutting services BorderBus are the only company expanding services. No wonder AP is always being nagged to ressurect some of his former Anglian routes."

    Now after slagging the anglian management since go ahead took over, how come julian is putting a new route in then?? Maybe don't sniff AP's arse too close....

    2. Mate you are really getting on my tits now. If you haven't got the balls to say who you are then do everyone a favour and shut up. Yes Julian had a lot to do with Anglian in the demise - just look at Konect's fleet, pay and conditions compared with Anglian's and you'll get the picture. I've yet to see a Konect driver have their lunch in a public toilet.

  2. Was pay higher when AP was there? The calibre of drivers was lower and no profit, what do you expect?

    Konect didn't get any new buses either after 2012 - just moved some (the ones mainly used on 50-53) when konect took over the services.

    AP is the only one expanding as he does it the right way...why is lynx expanding then? :/ invalid argument my friend.

    1. I agree. Steve, if you were in julian's shoes, what buses would you have transferred to konect for the 53 to make up the shortfall??

  3. Rotala are expanding. Go Coach are expanding. There are many expanding companies in the country. I doubt you would even be mentioning Lynx if JP wasn't a link. They operate in West Norfolk not Suffolk and East Norfolk which is where services are being cut - and I think you probably know that.

  4. You mention that they are the only ones expanding - you cover West Norfolk, so, no, I didn't catch on.

    Serious question: who was better in 2009? Anglian or Konect. Do you think AP would have done a better job if Julian stepped down in 2012 for AP to take over?

    Konect management had no intention or want to take over anglian. They were fired in to it which is good for finances, but both should be independent in their own respect.

  5. Unfortunately I was not in the area in 2009 so I cannot comment. However this is more about Go-ahead than individuals and AP left Anglian because he disliked being controlled by a big corporation. I suggest JP felt the same. One thing I do know, however, is that I haven't spoken to a single driver who has told me things were worse under AP. That, for me is real evidence, not stats that can be easily manipulated.

    1. I'm not saying AP was bad, just that if he were to have stayed there, what would have happened. The same as what happened to JP. Julian wouldn't let a bus go out if it had a scratch on it, look at konect now/ after 2010.

    2. So what you are saying is both Konect and Anglian were in better shape before Go-ahead took over. Only now the investment is going to Konect.

    3. Yes. But you can ask drivers from anglia "who were seen as more superior before 2010". Even anglian drivers are likely to say Konect.

      For example, konect never advertised for drivers between 2007-2012 as it wasn't needed. - they had a massive waiting list.

      Small things like konect nit allowing drivers to wear hi vis jackets (now rolled out to anglian) - if Konect drivers wore trainers, they would not be allowed to work - anglian on the other hand didn't care so much.

      Anglian were better for drivers who had a more relaxed approach; and konect were better for drivers who took pride in their work and know they wouldn't get into trouble (as they knew how JP was.)

      Both have gotten too big, and it's ashame.

    4. I agree, and you have put it in a nutshell. The relaxed, happy attitude that existed at Anglian has now transferred a few hundred yards down the road. I will take exception to one thing though - there were those at Anglian who took enormous pride in their work, and some still do. The way I have been describing things there for sometime now is that the love has gone out of the place. It used to be some people's life, now to those upstairs it's just a job. Until that changes I can't see fortunes changing. I get no pleasure from these opinions, contrary to popular belief, but that's just the way I see it.
